Axe 1 : Two- and three spatio-temporal modelling of natural environments

This research domain develops research projects and PhD studies oriented to the modelling and representation of natural landscapes and terrains using quantitative and qualitative approaches. Current researches tend to extend current GIS towards an integration of the third spatial and temporal dimensions, taking into account novel reasoning and processing models. The researches developed have the objective of providing novel spatio-temporal data structures and models, reasoning mechanisms and algorithms. Current projects are listed below :

Quantitative modelling

- Spatial data structures for natural terrains [fr]
- Fusion and integration of spatial data, application to coastal environments [fr]
- Natural terrain representation using EMD2D models [fr]
- Dynamics modelling of natural terrains [fr]
- Spatial analysis applied to zoogeography [fr]

Qualitative modelling

- Qualitative modelling of a landscape scene using verbal descriptions [fr]
- Ant-based inspired modelling of route descriptions in natural environments [fr]
- Perception and qualitative modelling of natural silhouettes [fr]
- Qualitative representation and modelling of maritime trajectories in the Ancient Greece [fr]
